Meet Gicumbi Bakery Operations Manager, Charlotte!
We are excited to announce our newest Program Manager at the bakery in Gicumbi: Charlotte Musengimana!
The Women’s Bakery employs two types of Program Managers:
Operations, who oversee bakery sales, strategy, and finance at a bakery.
Social Impact, who oversee social impact programming for the entire team.
Hiring a Rwandan female as Program Manager for the bakery in Gicumbi was critical. Charlotte met all of the qualifications: she is fluent in English and Kinyarwanda, has the drive to increase bread sales, and is compassionate about women bakers. Charlotte has worked hard to earn this position. Prior to working at The Women’s Bakery, she graduated from Akilah Institute with an Advanced Diploma in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. In addition to her passion to serve people, she brings skills in operations, sales and marketing to The Women’s Bakery.
Charlotte describes what this role means to her: “To be a Program Manager to me, is a great opportunity to learn and get more skills which will help me train my Gicumbi team team for success, as well as delivering something of value to TWB.” Her previous role in bakery management taught her time management and supervisory skills, and Charlotte is ready to take these skills to the next level.
Charlotte shares that she has discovered not all bread is created equal: “TWB bread is nutritious, affordable, and healthy compared to other bread at the market. TWB bread is really making a difference in our community.” Her goals as Gicumbi Bakery Operations Manager include bringing the bakery to profitability, continuing to serve affordable, nutritious bread, and continuing to see improvement in the lives of women.
Congratulations, Charlotte - we are thrilled to have you in the role of Program Manager!
