2019 Video Recap: A Year of Social Impact
The Women’s Bakery grew in tremendous ways in 2019. I am particularly proud of the steps we took to create greater access to professional and personal opportunities for our women bakers. With a focus on our Whole Woman Programming, we were able to provide new trainings, both financial and personal, for all of our Rwanda-based team members.
Our Whole Woman Programming is a key ingredient to our mission of empowering women and providing nutritious bread to communities in Rwanda. From this programming, we held a gender equity training which included the women bakers’ spouses - this was a particularly profound highlight as the feedback from both women and men was enlightening and positive. Similarly, our financial trainings gave way to the majority of our women bakers reporting increased personal savings and financial decision making power by the end of 2019.
