Let the Dough Roll In
After 4 months and over 180 classroom hours, the Remera and Kanombe groups successfully completed their TWB Bakery Business training program! These 15 committed women have studied everything from personal growth and financial literacy to applied nutrition to business & baking. Every participant increased their pre to post assessment scores, with an average of 28% positive change. These women have been calculating costs, baking, taste testing & refining their products over the last several weeks, and now they are ready to sell!
The Remera group began daily operations immediately following graduation, and in their first week are employing 10 women, baking & selling 6 days per week, and producing about 100 nutritious muffins and rolls a day. So far, the vitamin A filled carrot muffins are a favorite among adults, while the primary school children prefer the protein rich banana peanut muffins.
The Kanombe women look forward to starting their operations later this month, and are finalizing their plans for bakery location and acquiring supplies with the continued support of TWB.
We couldn’t be more proud of these amazing women, and we can’t wait to see how they progress and grow their bakeries as we stay alongside them in the coming months!
